We’re excited to announce the latest and gnarliest addition to Oomph: Nick Blanchard. The Rhode Island native has spent the last three months proving his talents as a web intern. Now he will be a permanent member of the site operations team. Rob Aubin, who worked closely with Nick during his internship, says Nick will be a valuable contributor.
“Nick’s communication style and work ethic make him a great addition to the team,” Rob says. “He’s proven himself to be the type of person who will take on a hard problem, solve it, and get all the details right.”
A recent graduate of Johnson and Wales University, Nick studied graphic design and digital media with a concentration in web technologies. He’s drawn to the web industry because of its ever-evolving nature. He explains, “The format of print media always looks the same, but online media changes all the time. It’s fun to keep up.” Nick enjoys the creative challenges that are presented by this constant change, such as formatting a website to appear on different size screens.
You might think developers sit inside on their computers all day, but that’s not the case at all. In fact, Nick has an enthusiasm for outdoor adventure. You name it, he does it: snowboarding, kayaking, fishing, hiking. Two years ago he even hiked Mount Washington, the highest peak in the Northeast known for its extreme weather conditions—just because he enjoys the peaceful side of exploring nature. In his free time, Nick has found a way to combine his passion for the outdoors with his talent for web design by beginning work on a social network specifically for hikers to share tips and trail reviews.
We are thrilled to welcome Nick to Boston and happy to be a part of his adventure here at Oomph.
